Gravid Trap*

Great for Surveillance of West Niles Virus, Dengue, and other arboviruses
Gravid Traps are often filled with oak-infused or grass sod-infused water. The oak or grass sod gives the water a darker color and gives off chemical orders which are thought to attract female mosquitoes looking for a site to lay their eggs. Since the captured mosquitoes are primarily females that have recently taken a blood meal, this trap is especially useful in disease vector monitoring.
