Following a blood meal, female mosquitoes find dark places to rest. The large pop-up containers serve as such a resting place. When it is time to collect the mosquitoes, the trap is set upright; the lid with the collection jar is placed on the container's opening. It is then pushed downward, expelling the air through the collection jar. The mosquitoes are forced out with the air and captured in the jar.
Use the 8 M3 nylon screws to attach the four legs to the main trap body. You can do this using a coin as a screwdriver or just by hand. Add oak-infused water to a depth of several inches. The water will evaporate, so add enough to last for the time between collections and/or maintenance. Mount he collection jar be sliding the jar onto the tube and lock in place with at least a quarter turn.
Be aware that if it rains, the pan will fill with rain water. This should not be a problem since excess water will naturally flow over the lip of the pan and the legs provide enough clearanceif to maintain a space between the water and the funnel opening..
Remove the cap from the end of the tube that penetrates the collection jar.
The cap can be stored on the threaded holder while collecting mosquitoes. The threaded holder is on the side of the collection jar.
Slide the collection jarr over the tube coming out of the main trap body. Twist the the jar on with atlead ta quarter turn. This locks idt in place. the jar can be screwed up to three turns but it isn't necessary.
Screw the jar on until it is upright as shown above. The jare does not have to be upright to work. you can position it upside down if you wish.. The position of the won't effect performance.
Collection will vary according to many factors such as bait (Light, oak-infused water, Sweet Sent, CO2, etc), location, season, weather and numerous other factors. The picture at the right was a very good night in the everglades using CO2 as the bait. Our traps have been very successful in numerous locations in Florida, South Carolina, Salt Lake City, and in multiple cities in India.
